An Idyllic Week in Switzerland

Day 1 - Zurich/Lucerne

Morning: Start your day by grabbing brunch at Fork and Bottle in Zurich, a trendy spot known for its delicious food and vibrant atmosphere. Stock up on snacks and groceries before hitting the road to Lucerne.

Afternoon: Explore Lucerne's charming Old Town, wander across the iconic Chapel Bridge, and climb the Mannliturm Tower for panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. Take a pedal boat out on the lake and marvel at the quaint city views from the water.

Night: For dinner, immerse yourself in Lucerne's culinary scene, choosing from a variety of local and international cuisines served tableside along the Chapel Bridge.

Day 2 - Interlaken

Morning: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your accomodation before heading to Interlaken. Take a boat across Lake Thun to Giessebach, a picturesque setting surrounded by mountains and forests.

Afternoon: Visit the stunning waterfalls in the area and spend the afternoon at a family friendly day resort called "The Beach" on Lake Brienz, where you can engage in water activities like paddle boarding or kayaking.

Night: Indulge in a delightful dinner at a local restaurant and drive back to your accommodation, relishing the tranquility of the Swiss countryside.

Day 3 - Kandersteg/Brienz

Morning: Start your day with a hearty breakfast and then drive to Brienz. Take a scenic ride on the Rothorn Bahn, a historic cogwheel railway offering breathtaking views. This ride sells out very quickly so I highly recommend buying tickets online in advance.

Afternoon: Drive to Kandersteg and take the gondola to Oeschinen Lake. Enjoy a leisurely walk or opt for an 8km hike for a panoramic view. For the thrill-seekers, take a ride on the mountain toboggan.

Night: Savor a delicious dinner and unwind after a day filled with adventure and natural beauty.

Day 4 - Grindelwald/Lauterbrunnen

Morning: Have breakfast at your accommodation and drive to Grindelwald Train Station. Take the train to First and experience the exhilarating First Cliff Walk to Tissot, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

Afternoon: For an extra adrenaline rush, consider mountain go-karting or ziplining. We had a great time paragliding down the mountain. It was absolutely unreal to see the Swiss scenery from this view. After lunch, drive to Lauterbrunnen and explore the charming village. Take a short hike to witness the majestic waterfalls, including Lauterbrunnen, Staubbach, and Trümmelbach.

Night: Indulge in a delightful dinner at a local restaurant in Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen, savoring traditional Swiss dishes like fondue.

Day 5 - Jungfraujoch

Morning: Drive to Grindelwald and leave your car at the station. Embark on an epic journey to Jungfraujoch, the "Top of Europe." Explore the observation deck, glacier plateau, Ice Palace, and Alpine Sensation. Arrive at Jungfraujoch and head straight to the Observation Deck for panoramic views of glaciers and snow-capped peaks. Be sure to explore the Ice Palace with its intricately carved sculptures and immerse yourself in the Alpine Sensation, showcasing the region's history and culture.

Afternoon: Take a break for lunch at one of the mountaintop restaurants, savoring Swiss specialties while soaking in the stunning landscapes on the Glacier Plateau. Don’t forget to participate in the Lindt Chocolate Tour for a sweet treat and learn about the art of Swiss chocolate-making.

Evening: As the day winds down, board the train back to Grindelwald. Catch the sunset on your way down and don’t miss this opportunity to grab some beautiful pictures.

Day 6 - Geneva

Morning: Start your day with a delightful breakfast in Geneva, choosing a café that offers a view of the serene Lake Geneva. Enjoy a leisurely meal as you soak in the elegant atmosphere of this cosmopolitan city.

Afternoon: Embark on a cultural exploration by visiting Geneva's renowned museums and landmarks. Take a stroll around the Old Town, exploring historic sites and discovering the city's rich heritage. Consider a visit to the United Nations headquarters or the Jet d'Eau fountain for iconic city views.

Evening: As the sun sets, find a chic restaurant in Geneva to indulge in a sophisticated dinner. Whether you opt for Swiss cuisine or international flavors, Geneva offers a diverse culinary scene to suit every palate. Finally, conclude your day with a nighttime stroll along the illuminated lakeside, basking in the city lights on Lake Geneva.

Day 7 - Zurich

Morning: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in Zurich's Old Town, surrounded by historic buildings and charming cobblestone streets. Embark on a walking tour, visiting churches and museums. Walking tours are available outside most big hotels or can be booked in advance on Viator/Airbnb.

Afternoon: Consider a day trip to Rhine Falls via boat to one of Europe's largest waterfalls, for a refreshing adventure. Capture the breathtaking views and feel the mist on your face.

Night: Wrap up your Swiss adventure with a delightful dinner in Zurich, choosing from the city's diverse culinary offerings.
